The Looking Glass research project published in 2020 revealed a mental health crisis within the Film and TV Industry in the UK. This issue is most likely a problem all over the world. In this episode, pharmacologist and Coach Diego Hangartner gives a broad picture of the impact stress has on us, and explains what causes stress and in which way it affects creative thinking. At the moment Diego is working on an interdisciplinary project “The Wheel of Mental Balance” - a methodology to cultivate a healthy and resilient mind. In this conversation he gives ideas on how people working in the film industry can take care of their mental health and explains that production sustainability and an environment without fear is a goal to achieve. Many threats to mental health are systemic and need to be addressed there as well, as producer and co-chair of Collectif 50/50 Laurence Lascary shares her perspective on this issue in part two of this episode. As a producer running a small company, Laurence tackles obstacles connected to well-being by sharing what she does to create a safe and healthy working environment.
This podcast episode has been developed in collaboration with Locarno Pro on the occasion of their previous StepIn think tank.
